According to the report, the social media post is going viral, inviting people to answer four questions and win two tickets to Europe, Asia or round-trip domestic flights as holiday gifts.
“Emirates are aware that there are online gift competitions. This is not an official competition and caution is advised,” said an Emirates spokesperson in a statement.
In June, a similar fake social media post went viral, offering a Dh10,000 reward on behalf of Emirates. The message asked people to participate in the contest and win 10,000 dirhams.
Both public and private organizations in the UAE occasionally issue advisories to UAE residents, asking them to only obtain information from official and trusted sources to protect themselves from cyber fraud.
Authorities and banks are also advising residents to be careful when transferring funds online to avoid being duped by cyber fraudsters.
As Khaleej Times reported in March, UAE authorities have returned Dh21 million to victims of various scams, including cybercrimes.
“All Emirates authorized content is hosted on our official channels, including our blue ticked social media accounts,” the spokesperson said.
