Tesla sold a staggering 70,847 China-made vehicles in Dec

Tesla Inc (TSLA.O) has recorded the highest number of monthly car sales in China last December since it started manufacturing in Shanghai in 2019.
The data, released by the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA) on Tuesday, showed that the U.S. electric vehicle maker had sold 70,847 China-made vehicles that month.
December’s sales were almost three times the number of cars sold in the same month in 2020 and 34% higher than November’s sales last year.
According to Reuters’ calculations, the total China-made cars sold in 2021 reached 473,078. According to the news agency, this “accounts for around half of 936,000 vehicles the U.S. automaker delivered globally last year.”
The Shanghai-based factory makes electric Model 3 sedans and Model Y sport-utility vehicles for domestic and international markets.
The automaker was doing so well during its third quarter in October that the Shanghai factory’s potential annual output exceeded 450,000 vehicles.
Tesla is the only foreign brand in the Top 10 brands dominating China’s EV market, according to Shanghai-based consultancy Automobility.
