Australia made an exciting comeback to bounce back from 49-5 and beat India by three wickets in an entertaining women’s Twenty20 first cricket match at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.

According to scoreboard,Commonwealth Games Group A, Edgbaston:
Australia 157-7 (19 overs) defeated India 154-8 (20 overs) by three wickets.
Barbados 144-4 (20 overs) beat Pakistan 129-6 (20 overs) with 15
runs.

Harmanpreet Kaur hit 52 balls from 34 and Shafali Verma hit 48 balls from 33 to help India go 154-8 at Edgbaston.

Indian navigator Renuka Singh Thakur then played with the ball and scored 4-18.

But Australia bounced back from their early collapse when Ashleigh Gardner hit 52 from 35 to seal the win.

Australia are the reigning world champions in this cricket format, having defeated India in the final of the 2020 T20 World Cup.

In Friday night’s game, Barbados – selected to represent the West Indies region – defeated Pakistan by 15 runs.

Captain Hayley Matthews led Barbados with half a century and a wicket, a catch and two runouts, while teammate Kycia Knight had 62 unbeaten.

Meanwhile, England captain Heather Knight will miss Saturday’s opening game against Sri Lanka with a hip injury but hopes to be fit for Tuesday’s second game against South Africa.
